Emma & James

Emma and James' engagement session was the first shoot of a busy weekend I had down in New Jersey! It was the absolute perfect way to kick off a photo-filled few days. After it had rained off and on all day long, just in time for golden hour, the sun poked out and it ended up being the most beautiful evening! We met at Natirar Park for their shoot, and it was my first time there. If you're a photographer in New Jersey, don't walk, run, to Natirar Park! It's gorgeous. I had such a fun time walking around with Emma and James, getting to know them and their story, and capturing some of my favorite images to date.

Their story began while working in the same school during the height of the pandemic. Because they both began at the same time, they had many "new teacher" zoom meetings together. They worked daily together, but had not met in person yet due to social distancing. Emma caught sight of James one day in the hallway and shouted, "hey it's you in person!". After an awkward chuckle, they ended up following each other on social media, making dinner plans, and the rest is history! Emma and James' ideal date night is playing trivia at a local brewery. Any place they can have good food and drinks, and just enjoy each other's company, is the best.

James perfectly balances out Emma's personality. He grounds her when she needs it, brings out the best version of herself, and helps her get out of her comfort zone. She adores how family oriented he is, and the way he prioritizes beginning their little family together. For James, Emma does everything right. She challenges James' thoughts and pushes him in the perfect ways. James had never valued the small moments in life until he met Emma. There's just no one else he could imagine coming home to. Together, though, they are two peas in a pod. Always laughing together, wanting to go on new adventures, and trying new things.

Emma and James are so looking forward to their wedding next year at Mountain Top! Mostly, for all of their friends and family to be there to celebrate. They cannot wait to soak in all the special moments all weekend long and have quality time with the people they love most. In their words, "Having our loved ones all together to celebrate our love will be such a special start to forever."
